4.

Days passed by, and Tara was still struggling to find a good opportunity to kill Veer. It's not like she didn't have any opportunities; it's just her wavering feeling came in between.

She couldn't bring herself to kill him, no matter what. He was so caring towards her and so gentle that it made it hard for her.

She was burning with revenge, but still she could see his good heart, his pureness. Who would believe this man had mercilessly killed her brother?

On the other hand, Veer was struggling too; his closeness and genuine care for Tara were wavering in his heart.

He couldn't help but watch her from afar whenever she was out with Myra. It's like he forgets what he was doing and just watches her.

One day, Veer was practicing his sword skills. Tara was passing by the practice room when she heard the sound of swords clinking.  She couldn't help but take a peek.

She hid behind the pillar, the sound of steel clanking echoed as Veer swung his sword, each strike strong, precise as though he was born was battle itself.

Sunlight fell over his form, catching on the sweat droplets that traced the hard lines of his jaw and neck.

From behind the pillar, Tara told herself she should leave, but it was like her legs were stuck in one place. His elegance, his stance was powerful, she couldn't take her eyes off him.

Veer had quick battle instincts; he caught her sneaking up on him. He couldn't help but smirk, “You hid poorly.” his voice echoed through the empty room.

Tara's heart jumped out hearing him. She made sure she was hidden properly while he saw her. Being caught, she stepped out looking down.

“I.. I am sorry, Yuvraj… I was just passing by,” Veer raised an eyebrow, walking towards her.

“Passing by?” He stepped towards her while Tara stepped back. “You were passing by for the last 30 mins?”

Tara gulped. She kept on walking back until her back hit the wall. She looked behind, and she had nowhere to go.

“Yuv…Yuvraj, it's a mis—” Veer stood close to her, pinning her to the wall. He himself was stunned by his move.

“You like what you see?” He asked, tucking the hair strand behind her ear.

“I…no..i..i..mean…yuv…” Tara wanted to take that sword and stab herself after her embarrassing shuddering.

“I… you .. what vaidehi?” Veer whispered, sending shivers through her spine. Hearing him call her Vaidehi, Tara's heart started beating faster as if she had run a marathon.

“N….no Yuvraj…” Tara was to run from there as soon as possible. She looked in a direction, “Ohh Maharaj”

Hearing veer quickly looked back, but there was no one then. Veer looked at where Tara was, but she ran away from there.

“This girl,” he shook his head with a small smile dancing on her lips. Her flustered cheeks he wanted to pinch her cheeks. He wanted to kiss her plump lips; he frowned at his own thoughts. What was he thinking?

He was about to resume his practice, and his gaze fell on the payal on the ground. He picked it up and carefully kept it with him. He would give her the payal later.

Tara ran to her chamber. She leaned on the wall, breathing heavily. Her heart was beating so fast she could still feel his breath on her lips. She had shivers throughout her body. His touch still lingered.

“Hey Mahadev yei kya ho raha hai hume, hum kyu apne dil pe kabu nahi pa rahe. Kyu humara dil unke liye jor jor se dhadak raha hai. Vo humare dushamn hai fir bhi hum kyu unke taraf keeche ja rahe hai. Mahadev hume raasta dikhayi ye kis sankat se bahar ane ka. Hum kya kare?” Tara whispered, holding her chest.

(“Hey Mahadev, what is happening to me? Why am I not able to control my heart? Why is my heart beating so fast for him? He is my enemy, still, why am I going towards him? Mahadev, show me the way to get out of this problem. What should I do?”

Just then, a maid walked in, “Tara bai sa is calling you.” Tara nodded. She calmed herself, gaining her composure, wiped the tears on her cheek, and walked towards Princess Myra's room.

“You called me princess?” Tara spoke as soon as she walked into Myra's chamber.

Myra smiled at Tara excitedly, “Tara, come, how is this?” Myra asked, showing Tara a beautiful lehenga.

“It's beautiful, Princess.” Tara touched the leheng, admiring its beautiful, intricate design, its beautiful, vibrant colour; it was simply beautiful.

“Then it's for you,” Myra spoke, forwarding the lehenga towards Tara. Tara quickly shook her head.

“No, princess, I can't keep it. im just a maid,” Myra smiled and held Tara's hand.

“Vaidehi, you are not just a maid... to me, you are more like a friend. I was always alone without any friends but my brothers. But since you have come, I have found a good friend in you.” Myra spoke in a soft, warm voice.

“So you are not just a maid, you are also my friend, and friends give gifts to each other. So im gifting his lehenga to you.” Myra passed the lehenga to Tara.

Tara couldn't reject her sighing; she took the lehenga. Tara felt bad. Myra was considering Tara her friend, but Tara was there to snatch everyone's happiness. Tara was here to kill Myra's brother.

Tara gave Myra a small smile and left her chamber with a heavy heart. The more she stayed here, the more her heart was softening for him. She felt like she was on a chaurah; she didn't know which way to take.

She was walking, lost in her thoughts, when suddenly someone pulled her into an empty space. She yelped, but that person covered her mouth.

At first, she panicked, but seeing her cousin, who was dressed as a guard, she calmed down.

“Viraj bhai sa,” Tara whispered and quickly hugged him. Viraj hugged her back.

“How are you, choti?” Viraj asked, breaking the hug.

“Im okay bhai sa, but app yaha kaise?” Tara asked worriedly.

(Im okay, but how come you are here?)

“I was worried about you, choti. You have been gone for so many months, I didn't receive any letter from you, so worried I managed to sneak in as a guard,” Viraj explained and patted Tara's head.

“Don't worry, bhai sa, I'll finish my work soon,” Tara spoke determinedly.

Viraj nodded with a smile. “Aap apna dyan rakhiye hum fr Milne ayenge apse thik hai.” Viraj spoke, and Tara nodded.

(You take care of yourself, I'll come meet you again.)

Viraj quickly left from there. Tara felt guilty that she was forgetting her revenge; she was forgetting her brother.

Tara started walking towards her chamber mindlessly she suddenly bumped into a wall. Tara hissed, but the thing she bumped into was not a wall but a strong chest.

“Aap har bar humse aise kaise takra jati ho?” Tara heard Veer’s teasing voice.

(How come you always bump into me?)

Tara looked up only to meet Veer's teasing gaze.

“Vo…Yuvraj.” Before Tara could complete her sentence, Veer held her hand and took her somewhere with him.

Tara was confused, “y…Yuvraj,” she tried to pull back her hand. But Veer had no intention of letting her hand go.

He took her to his favourite place in the palace, his hideout. It was the roof of the palace from where one could see the starry sky and the beautiful moon.

Tara instantly fell in love with that place, the cool breeze was kissing her face while the moon up like always beautiful. The only light that was coming was the moonlight.

“Baithi yei” veer gestured Tara to sit on the couch placed on the rooftop.

(Sit down)

Tara sat down on the couch, “aap yei bhul ayi thi.” Veer spoke, showing Tara the anket.

Tara's eyes widened when did it fall. She thought and was about to take it from him.

But before she could even touch it, Veer kneeled in front of her. He touched her feet, but Tara took her feet back.

“Yuvraj yei ap kya krre ho… hum bas ek dasi hai humara pair mat chuiye” Tara spoke, her heart beating.

(Prince, what are you doing? im just a maid, don't touch my feet.

Veer just shook his head and held her feet, keeping them on his knees.

“Hum vo kr rahe hai jo hume krna chahiye.” veer spoke.

(im doing what I need to do)

The faint jingle of the bells filled the silence as he clasped it around her ankle, his touch lingering just a second too long. She looked away, but the flush on her cheeks betrayed the storm in her heart.

Hey Mahadev yei hum nahi kr skte hum inhe nahi mar skte hai. Hum nahi kr payenge.

(Mahadev, I can't do this… I can kill him.)
